SCF Gold
The SCF was the first pedal TC ever released and it was so popular that it started their epic journey. 45 years later TC has reissued the iconic pedal with a few modern upgrades while retaining the core nature of the pedal. But what are these upgrades and why were they needed?
SCF Upgrades
Although the circuit is the same found in the original 1976 model, the analog pre-amp has been upgraded. TC say this results in more headroom and dynamic range with a touch more bottom end.
The power cable on the original SCF was hardwired and stuck out of the side however, the new one top-mounted and is your typical centre negative 9v affair. This also results in the sides being clear making the SCF very pedalboard friendly.
Lastly, for the upgrades, the SCF features a slightly bigger LED for ease of seeing it.
The Sound Of Silence
The original SCF came out in a time when pedals would affect your tone just by plugging them in, and when you did turn them on there could be a lot of noise.
The SFC was known as the sound of silence as the noise floor was so very low. This has been improved on even more now too, isn't it great buying a pedal for how quiet it can be.

SCF stands for Stereo Chorus & Flanger but that's not all, there's a pitch modulation!
Pitch modulation feels like a still chorus or flanger and is great for adding stereo depth to your tone.
The tones you hear from this may automatically sound familiar to you and that's due to the use by so many famous players including Eric Johnson.
