It's the new old guitar. The story of the Little Sister guitar began from the puzzling question of how the early delta bluesmen were able to fascinate a listener with only one guitar and their simple, yet soulful vocal lines.Understanding that these players fat and throaty guitar tone often came from playing small body Parlor guitars, made us decide to uncover the secret of these instruments and embark on a journey back to the crossroads. While obsessively collecting all sorts of original guitars from the 1920s and â30s, that many times were in poor condition and needed a complete restoration, we began to create the special design that would best approach the guitar sound we had become hooked on.We wanted to create an instrument that would be versatile enough for players who use a pick, and for players who are finger stylists. It needed to be superior in terms of playability, and it had to be gimmick free. It had to be lightweight, comfortable and unique; Ultimately, we decided that it should be a small body parlor guitar because these were the instruments that we kept playing again and again. And if she looks like a jewel it's because she was designed by jewelry artist David Weizman who also handcrafts the brass hardware.
An inspiring instrument. The B&G Little Sister private build made a huge impact since it's first appear in 2014. Building handmade guitars takes time and has it's costs, that makes them less accessible to all players. With that in mind, the B&G Little Sister Crossroads was born, Asia-manufactured variant of the Little Sister that provides classic B&G looks and construction at a more affordable cost.B&G, by all means, did not compromise on tone. The Little Sister Crossroads (cutaway and non-cutaway) is built out of quality tone-woods - African Mahogany body and neck, Indian Rosewood fingerboard and solid Maple top. It is finished using UV finish which compliments the sound characteristics of the wood. Factory-made solid brass hardware made it possible to maintain the familiar look and similar tonal qualities to the Little Sister Private Build. The Little Sister Crossroads is without a doubt an inspiring instrument.

The other sister. The B&G Little Sister is great. It really is, but also pretty pretty unique and different to contemporary guitars. With its 20 fret neck and non cut body design, it prevented some musicians in need for more frets and upper-fret access from falling in love with it. The Step Sister model is the answer to that, with 16th fret neck to body joint, 22 frets overall, cutaway as a standard and a full-face headstock. If the Little Sister was considered "bluesy", then the step sister is definitely the "rocking" one in the growing B&G family. Equipped with 2 B&G designed humbuckers, the Step Sister Crossroads has some output to deliver! A clear sounding, well balanced instrument with a tad of hollowness thanks to the chambered f-holed body. We love it and hope you will too once you try it out on the TonePedia player.
Young and wild. Looking at B&G Guitars, both Step Sister, Little Sister and of course the Goldfinger are semi-hollow, centre seam guitars. Then came Helena - a solid body, bolt on model, ready to rock! Personally speaking, we are suckers for P90 pickups and often think that a good P90 guitar is the best overall guitar of choice. The B&G Guitars Helena P90 is such guitar! It is light weight (3.1Kg), Sports quality one piece mahogany body, 2 hot hand-wound B&G P90 pickups and tons of mojo! From soft to hard rock it has it all and in spades, healthy sustain yet dry, balanced, clear. Yummy what a guitar. Of course, P90s are not for everyone and if you want endless sustain and thicker tone you might prefer the Humbucker version or if single coil is what makes you feel good then the lipstick Helena. Good news are that we have demoed them all so be sure to check them out and find the one you like.

When Helena put lipstick on... The Helena is the first solid body guitar by B&G Guitars. The company which is associated with high end semi-hollow body guitars finally did the anticipated step and released a bolt on, solid body high end rock machine. You can get the B&G Guitars Helena in three pickup varioations: P90, Humbuckers and Single Coil Lipstick. We have to admit, at first we were kind of on the fence with the lipstick version. Once we heard it there was no doubt, we love it! Such a refreshing instrument which combines aspects of a Strat, Tele, SG and B&G flavour. The outcome is simply unique. The three Hand-Wound B&G Single coils react great to dynamics and sound healthy and full. It's a light guitar, weighs at 3.1Kg. Cool instrument. Be sure to compare it to the P90 and Humbucker version to find your Helena.

A Heavenly Guitar B&G have managed to get their hands on some of the most acclaimed wood throughout history. Cedar Of Lebanon has been revered for such a very long time it is even referenced in ancient religious text. So why not make guitars from it, for those angelic tones. The tones of this guitar can be described as a blend of sweetness, warmth and delicacy added to the usual acoustic like tones the little sister range is known and loved for. With an African Mahogany body, Honduran Mahogany neck and Pau ferro fingerboard this is certainly a multicultural setup with a "waterfall of harmonics" radiating from the guitar. Acoustically the little sister already sounds amazing, but when you plug it in the p90 pair offers everything any one could need all the way to heavy rock tones. Two Volumes and a master tone control allow many interesting blends of unique tones and the 50's wiring keeps things sounding "open".This is one very very special guitar with finishes of Whiskey Barrel or Flora which features delicately painted flowers throughout the body, both of which add to the quality in every way.
Mahogany Mega Mix B&G offer a few All-Mahogany guitars and this is one of the best. The Step Sister range is a more modern take on B&G's palour guitar platform the Little Sister was based upon. Designed with a slightly shorter body shape, 22 frets and a solid headstock the Step sister range has great access all round the neck. With African Mahogany for the body and a Honduran Mahogany neck this Step Sister follows suit however instead of a maple top we have African Mahogany. The gives the midrange a vocal quality and the chambered body goes so far to create a natural sounding low end. The highs are sweet and rounded without any unwanted frequencies. The B&G made Kickbuckers offer the full range of classic P90's without any Hum. The hardware on B&G's guitars is brass which works lovely with mahogany by allowing higher frequencies to blend nicely with the midrange. Like all B&G guitars these look stunning and unique to go with the outstanding playability and tones.

B&G looked back and cheery picked the most requested private build features the workshop has received ever since its foundation, and created a new line, aimed to reduce the cost so that all players who want a Little Sister but could not afford one, would be able to do so. To us, the Mahogany Little Sister is the most unique sounding one. There is something open and dry in it, that is enchanting. If Robert Johnson were to play electric guitars, we believe he would have liked this one. From the B&G Hand-wound P90s, to finish, quality and playability, this is a private build. It is made in Tel Aviv, by the same luthiers that build the Private Build models. Only the price is lower and customisation is not an option. Take into account that the All Mahogany only comes as a cutaway version, being a true Blues-Rock Machine, we totally understand why.

Building handmade guitars takes time and has it's costs, that makes them less accessible to all players. With that in mind, the B&G Little Sister Crossroads was born, Asia-manufactured variant of the Little Sister that provides classic B&G looks and construction at a more affordable cost. The first Crossroads series which was released in early 2017 came only with P90 pickups. The demand for a Humbuckers version grew rapidly and B&G finally released the new Humbuckers Crossroads in early 2018 with a fresh new finish too, the Midnight Ocean. Describing this guitar is simple; it is on the top of our list for guitars up to 2000â¬! It responds so well to dynamics, have a unique tone, yet familiar and soothing.B&G, by all means, did not compromise on tone. The Little Sister Crossroads series is built out of quality tone-woods - African Mahogany body and neck, Wenge fingerboard and solid Maple top. It is finished using UV finish which compliments the sound characteristics of the wood. Factory-made solid brass hardware made it possible to maintain the familiar look and similar tonal qualities to the Little Sister Private Build. The Little Sister Crossroads Humbuckers is without a doubt an inspiring instrument.
Improving Perfection With Beauty It's hard for anyone to argue that B&G guitars are anything but attractive. The Little sister range harks back to pre-war parlour guitars and the Step Sister range add upon that formula with slightly more modern appointments such as solid bodies and solid headstock's as options. But B&G guitars aren't simply nice looking tools, they play effortlessly from the Crossroads range all the way to this guitar ... honestly you won't want to put them down. B&G like to experiment with tone woods and the Ziricote for many is the peak result of this so far. Ziricote is a wood which can be used on the fingerboard AND the top, B&G have found a method of sinking the Ziricote into the maple top which provides both a wonderful new appearance with familiar yet new tones. Did you get this? They are literally sinking the Ziricote into the Maple. Insane. The mahogany body and Ziricote / Maple top paired with a set of B&G designed Humbuckers will give you the familiar 50/60's single cut feels and tone with the outstanding build quality and aesthetics that B&G oozes. Let us know how you think it compares to the rest of the range on Facebook and Instagram.
The All Mahogany Step Sister. The B&G Little Sister is great. It really is, but also pretty pretty unique and different to contemporary guitars. We love it and hope you will too once you try it out on the TonePedia player.
The solid body daughter to the B&G house is here! Until Helena came, B&G Guitars were associated with high end semi-hollow body guitars. Both Step Sister, Little Sister and of course the Goldfinger, are semi-hollow, centre seam guitars. The Helena is a project of two years, we know because we were there when it started. They took everything the know, and put it into this killer, solid body, bolt on model which sounds like what rock 'n roll dreams made out of. The Humbuckers version presented here, is to us the 'standard' version. But if your soul wishes for something else be sure to check the P90 and Lipstick Single Coil options on TonePedia. The two Hand-Wound B&G Humbuckers sing and work so well with the one piece mahogany body on this one! Weight wise 3,2Kg is impressive, making it a very resonant yet light guitar.
